Jamila Ruma, 21, daughter of slain Mayor Joel Ruma of Rizal town, this province, was elected the youngest mayor of this province and the country.

She defeated Ralph Mamauag and Florence Littaua. Jamila received 5,134 votes compared to Mamauag and Littaua’s 3,661 and 170, respectively.

Jamila replaced her reelectionist father after he was gunned down by unidentified gunmen while campaigning in Barangay Illuru Sur on Wednesday evening, April 23.
