Philippine Coast Guard receives P1.9-M ship repair equipment

The United States donated some P1.9 million ($34,500) worth of equipment to the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) to boost its capability to maintain and repair its vessels, the US Embassy in Manila disclosed on Friday, Aug. 22.
The donations, which include a backup power supply, were turned over by the US Department of State’s Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) headed by Director Kate Riche to the Coast Guard Fleet led by its commander, Rear Admiral Rommel Supangan, in a ceremony on Aug. 18.
Supangan said the donations would enhance the capabilities of the Coast Guard Fleet’s Maintenance and Repair Group (MRG) Workshop in Sangley Point, Cavite.
