New players in the online gaming business, such as Bloomberry Resorts Corporation of billionaire Enrique K. Razon Jr., will have a hard time competing with market leader Tanco-led Digiplus Interactive Corporation.

“Who can compete with Digiplus? They are three years ahead... It’s hard to compete. You have to throw a lot of money,” said Digiplus Director Willy N. Ocier in an interview.

DigiPlus Chairman Eusebio Tanco expressed optimism for continued growth in the company’s user base after closing 2024 at 40 million, double the 20 million recorded in 2023.

Meanwhile, Ocier, who is also Chairman of Belle Corporation, said that, “if ever we would do it (venture into online gaming) aggressively, it would be through COD (City of Dreams) because COD as an IR (integrated resort) has a better fee structure.”

“I will leave it up to Melco to pursue that,” he said but noted that “Melco is looking for a buyer for their stake (in COD).”
