Foreign rocket debris fished out in Occidental Mindoro

A rocket debris bearing the Chinese flag was found floating in the sea of Looc, Occidental Mindoro on Thursday, Aug. 14.
The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said a fisherman discovered the rocket debris believed to be from China’s Long March 7A rocket launch last month.
The incident was reported to the Philippine National Police (PNP) Maritime Group before being relayed to Coast Guard Sub-Station (CGSS) Lubang for retrieval.
The fisherman discovered the object while fishing one nautical mile in Barangay Bonbon in Looc.

Rev up growth engine despite latest GDP growth decline
The latest reading from the Philippine economy serves as a cautionary note. In the third quarter the pace of growth has flagged. According to official data, the Philippine real GDP grew by 4.0 percent year-on-year in Q3 2025 — the slowest expansion in more than four years, down from 5.5 percent in Q2. On a quarter-on-quarter, seasonally-adjusted basis, it expanded only 0.4 percent, below forecasts of 0.8 per cent.
