ASEAN urges restraint, welcomes Israel-Iran truce

Foreign ministers of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) have welcomed the June 24 ceasefire between Israel and Iran and called on all parties to respect the truce to avoid further escalation of conflict in the Middle East.
The joint statement, released on Thursday evening, June 26, under Malaysia's ASEAN chairmanship, reflected the regional bloc's concern over the worsening situation and its support for peace efforts in the region.
The 10-member bloc reaffirmed its commitment to peaceful resolution of disputes, respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity of all nations. protection of national sovereignty.
