HUNDREDS OF STAFF AT RISK OF REDUNDANCY AT WHOLESALE ARM OF TALKTALK GROUP
HUNDREDS of staff at part of Salford's TalkTalk Group are at risk of redundancy following a 'major restructuring' of the business.
Cuts of about 350 roles will affect Platform X Communications (PXC), the wholesale arm of the group, which provides services and broadband to other telecoms providers.
The cuts will affect employees across the UK, including at the group's headquarters at the Soapworks in Salford Quays, with affected roles terminated by November of this year. Around 70 new roles are also expected to be created.
The M.E.N. yesterday spoke to an employee who confirmed the news.
The man, who was leaving the business park on the Quays, said that last week they were told they would lose their job.
The man, who preferred to remain anonymous, added that the number of 350 people losing their jobs in the country 'sounds about right.
"They told me last week," he said.
