SACKED LANDLADY SAYS SHE WAS UNAWARE OF SEPARATE INCIDENTS UNTIL SHE WAS LATER TOLD

- By CHRIS SLATER, DAMON WILKINSON & CHARLOTTE HALL

A RAP video featuring a 'toy' gun, mock bullets and fake cash has been filmed at a pub where an unrelated gathering of Neo-Nazis celebrating Adolf Hitler's birthday was held months earlier.

The outgoing landlady of the Duke of Edinburgh in Royton, Oldham, said she was unaware of the separate incidents three months apart until she was later told.

Jean English has been sacked after the video by rapper RoyalWright99 and dancehall artist 1 Torcha Boss was released online.

She said she was given 24-hours’ notice and a week to move her family out of the flat above the boozer.

In April, the Manchester Evening News revealed members of the north west branch of the British Movement had gathered at the pub for a far-right event.

Ms English said she was unaware of the group’s presence until the following day and reported the incident to police. Detectives launched an investigation and nine people were later arrested on suspicion of section 18 Public Order Act offences. They were bailed and an investigation is ongoing.

Now Ms English’s agreement with the Craft Union Pub Company, part of the Stonegate Group, has been terminated after the video for the track Trashy was uploaded to YouTube.

The artists who shot the video have distanced themselves from the gathering of British Movement members at the pub in April, saying they were unaware.

Mrs English said she was unaware of the activity at the pub and didn’t know the music video was being filmed.

The pub company said licensing conditions had been broken and that action was taken as soon as bosses became aware.

Oldham council said it is investigating with Greater Manchester Police.

The video, posted on August 9, shows imitation bullets and a handgun which the musicians said was a toy on the pub's pool table, as well as rolls of ‘cash’
