Centenary salute to city's 'amazing people'

A NEW award will honour the 'day-to-day contributions' that people in Salford have made to the city as it marks its centenary year.
It's 100 years since Salford became a city
Salford council has announced the new Salford Centenary Award to 'celebrate the people, neighbourhoods, culture and civic institutions that have shaped Salford's identity, pride and ambition'.
This April will mark 100 years since Salford became a city, with a yearlong programme of events planned. Councillors gave their support to launching the Salford Centenary Award during a meeting yesterday.
