MACC First XI (sponsored by Henbury Travel) were away at Marple and were asked to bat first after skipper Jack Massey lost the toss.

Macc openers Jack Massey and Jimmy Longhorn made a decent start and looked to be bedding in well until Massey was caught off Saxelby for 12, leaving Macc on 19-1. Longhorn and new man Andrew Poppa again looked to be going well only for Poppa to be caught behind for 12. The loss became the first part of a triple blow when number 4 John Birchall was caught with only a single added and then Longhorn became Saxelby's third victim, caught for 20.
