Silks finish with four-goal flourish
Macclesfield Express
|April 23, 2025
FOUR late goals saw Macclesfield save a monotonous game against a play-off chasing Ilkeston Town on Saturday afternoon, taking their total goal tally beyond 100.

The Leasing.com Stadium had to wait until the 78th minute for the deadlock to be broken after John Rooney found the far corner in style.
And D'Mani Mellor had their lead doubled four minutes later before the league's leading scorer Danny Elliott poked home a stoppage-time brace to turn a win into a thrashing.
Manager Robbie Savage made five changes to the side that picked up three points away at Guiseley previously, with Paul Dawson, Sean Etaluku, Diego De Girolamo, Danny Elliott and Dontai Gabidon all returning to the starting XI.
Macc were the side to create the first threat after Danny Whitehead sliced wide from a short free-kick eight minutes in, while Etaluku was able to square a ball to the edge of the area ten minutes later but Dawson's first-timed effort was well held by Mathew Yates.
Centre-half Rollin Menayese was next to try and break the deadlock after Lewis Fensome hooked a ball towards the penalty spot, though the former Walsall man could only head into the hands of Yates despite rising highest.
