Police investigate after tragic teenager found dying in road

The 18-year-old man was found in Booth Road, Altrincham, with ‘serious injuries’ at around 5am and, sadly, he died at the scene.

A forensics tent was put in place on the street while the roads around it – including part of the A56 at Dunham Road – were cordoned off for several hours.

Some residents of these roads said they were woken up by the sound of sirens in the early hours.

Several people who live nearby spoke of ‘racers’ often coming out at night on the residential roads where the incident occurred. Several roads around the town centre have recently been upgraded with a one-way system put in place on part of Regent Road.

One local resident, who did not give her name, said this change – which is part of wider improvements in the town centre – has made a difference. “But you will get the odd lunatic at night time, flying,” she said. “Somebody’s going to get injured one of these days.”
