Two brothers used body art as inspiration for a high-end restaurant
THE BROTHERS who founded a group of high-end Chinese restaurants have revealed plans to expand overseas and open two new Manchester sites under different brands over the next 12 months.
Adam and Drew Jones, who opened the doors of their first Tattu restaurant in Manchester's Spinningfields in 2015, have targeted Dubai and Saudi Arabia as possible destinations for the brand's first international offering, with the US also forming part of the long-term plan.
The pair have vowed to not open anew Tattu in the UK, saying doing so would dilute the brand and make it more like a commercial chain. But they have also revealed plans to open two new restaurants in Manchester under new brands in the next year, employing 200 people between them.
Adam and Drew Jones had _ originally been walking down very different career paths. Adam had embarked ona legal career while Drew went to university to study event management.
But the pair wanted for something different and Adam went off to run a VIP concierge business in the south of Spain.
“It worked with all the best clubs and restaurants in the region and it gave us both an understanding of the industry and how brands that were really successful wanted to market,’ Adam said.
“That was very seasonal and therefore it didn’t have much longevity and was not conducive to having a family because of spending six months in Spain.”
