IT will be a year next month since Hannibal Mejbri enjoyed the finest moment of his United career to date.

Mejbri needs to move on after too many false dawns at Reds

After stepping off the bench with the Reds 2-0 down at home to Brighton, United slipped even further behind seven minutes after his introduction.

Trailing 3-0, the Reds were staring down the barrel of a third defeat from their opening five Premier League matches.

However, Hannibal gave the scoreline a slightly more respectable look two minutes later, crashing in a brilliant effort from 25 yards out. It marked his first goal for the club.

Despite it proving to be nothing more than a consolation strike, it was a moment that clearly meant the world to him.

He had been at United for more than four years when he scored at the Stretford End and it felt like it could have been a breakthrough moment in his Old Trafford career. However, he has made just eight appearances for the club since, meaning it was nothing more than a false dawn.
