THE grandmother of Alex Batty - the boy missing from home for six years has said she thought she'd 'never see him again... and feared he could have been dead.
Susan Caruana, 68, was reunited with her 17-year-old grandson last weekend after he flew home to Oldham from France.
He was found on a rural road near Quillan and picked up by a delivery driver. Alex's identity was revealed when he was taken to a police station. He was reported missing after he went on holiday to Marbella, Spain, with mum Melanie Batty - who was not his legal guardian and grandfather David Batty in 2017 aged 11. Ms Caruana is Alex's effective guardian - and will be until he turns 18. He is a 'ward of court, with High Court judges remaining his legal guardian. Ms Caruana Alex's appointed 'special guardian, supported by Oldham council, dealing with day-to-day care.
