Driver spared jail after fatal Audi smash

A CYCLIST was killed after being hit by a speeding Audi on a busy main road.

Aron Qureshi, 39, was struck by the car on Wilbraham Road in Whalley Range on a Sunday afternoon. The Audi, driven by Mohammed Dhiya Ali, was being followed by a Seat Leon driven by Ateeb Qaiser.

The cars reached speeds of 50mph and 60mph in a 30mph zone before the Audi crashed into Mr Qureshi, Manchester Crown Court heard. Ali was jailed at a previous hearing after admitting causing death by dangerous driving. Qaiser was found not guilty of causing death by dangerous driving by a jury. He pleaded guilty to dangerous driving.
