Driving U.S. Efficiency with Japanese Precision

Tensho Electric Industries, a Japanese plastics manufacturer approaching its 90th anniversary, is leveraging decades of molding expertise to expand internationally through its logistics-products arm, Sanko America.
-
Founded in 1936, Tensho has become one of Japan’s most respected names in injection molding, supplying nearly all major domestic automakers and serving industries from office equipment to housing materials.
With plastics now essential to lighter, more efficient vehicles and advanced manufacturing, the company is positioning its next wave of growth in the United States. That expansion is being channeled through Sanko America, an affiliated company specializing in pallets, foldable crates, and containers that streamline the transport of goods.
Sanko has established a new plant next to an existing factory in Rosarito, B.C., Mexico and installed 35 brand new injection machines imported from Japan. “Local manufacturing means shorter lead times, greater efficiency, and better service for our customers,” said Chairman Tadahiko Ishikawa.
Tensho’s competitiveness is rooted in Japan’s automotive sector, which today accounts for around 70 percent of the company’s business. That exposure has sharpened its skills in designing lightweight, durable components capabilities that transfer directly into high-spec logistics products and electric vehicle supply chains.
