Mum suffers double vehicle woe within miles of forecourt
Llanelli Star
|October 08, 2025
A WOMAN says she has been left with a huge debt after paying thousands for a car that she never received.
Rebecca Green.
(REBECCA GREEN.)
Rebecca Green thought she had bought an Audi Q2 at the Motorpoint dealership in Swansea without any issues.
She had exchanged her Range Rover at the dealership leaving her with a negative equity of £5,7000. She then put down a £2,500 payment as part of a new finance agreement for the new car, leaving her owing £3,200.
But within minutes of driving off the forecourt there was a big problem.
Rebecca had only driven about 20 to 30 miles when things started going seriously wrong, terrifying both her and her eight-year-old son who was also in the car.
"I had black smoke coming from my engine," she said.
"My son couldn’t get his seatbelt off quick enough and I was obviously screaming to get him out of the car. I had to swing myself out, there was smoke everywhere."
Motorpoint took the car back and promised to fully investigate but Rebecca was left stranded.
"I was there for an hour, they weren't willing to give me a courtesy car but as soon as my partner got there, they suddenly found a car."
