Lancaster rivals lose race to Dubai

- By CHRIS WRIGHT

ROYAL Dubai (9-4 joint favourite) burst through late on to land a fine victory in the Betfred Rose Of Lancaster Stakes at Haydock Park on Saturday afternoon.

The five-year-old Seahenge entire, who only arrived at Owen Burrow’s stable in mid-June, made it two wins from two starts for the Lambourn trainer on Merseyside. And it was also a third victory in the past four years for Burrows as Royal Dubai followed in the hoofprints of stable star Anmaat's two victories in 2022 and 12 months ago.

‘Anmaat went on to win the Group One Champion Stakes at Ascot in October after his Haydock success but Royal Dubai is likely to head to Dubai - where owner Saeed Sultan Al Rahoonii is from - in his bid for more Group-race success.

Having been sent to Burrows on the Friday of Royal Ascot week in June, Royal Dubai made it two wins from two starts in the Rose Of Lancaster at Haydock.
