Guehi drops Liverpool hint as Palace captain's future still unclear as transfer deadline nears

The Reds opened talks with Crystal Palace regarding a possible move for the England international earlier this month.

However, will refuse to pay over the odds for a player who is available for free next summer when his contract expires.

The 25-year-old has continued to play for the Eagles despite transfer talks being held, helping them draw 0-0 away at Chelsea on the opening day of the Premier League season before beating Fredrikstad 1-0 in the Europa Conference League on Thursday night. He is likely to again feature for Palace at home to Nottingham Forest today.

Meanwhile, Glasner previously admitted that the Eagles cannot afford to let the centre-back leave until after their second leg against Fredrikstad next week - though chairman Steve Parish reiterated Guehi will likely be sold if he does not sign a new contract.

With the transfer window open until September 1, it remains to be seen if Liverpool will be able to strike a deal with Palace for Guehi before the deadline passes.

The centre-back is understood to be keen on the move to Anfield, but the Londoners are believed to currently be asking far in excess of what the Reds are willing to offer for a player who has entered the last 12 months of his contract.

Amid the ongoing speculation, Guehi has revealed he has lots of friends in Liverpool as he opened up on his tight-knit family in an interview with BBC Sport.
