Wirral map set for major changes

REDUCTION IN COUNCILLORS AS DIVIDED TOWN SET TO BECOME ONE WARD
PEOPLE in Wirral are set to see the number of councillors in the area go down after major changes to its political map.
The Local Government Boundary Commission has been reviewing changes to Wirral's boundaries ahead of the next set of council elections which are due to be held in 2027.
Wirral Council used to hold elections almost every year but moved to a four year election cycle following a government review. The commission initially proposed minor changes to the way the public are represented in the borough but now this is not the case. The number of council wards will remain the same at 22 but the number of councillors will go from 66 to 65.
