EANNE Campbell has left the airwaves of local radio and the iconic tower in the centre of our city is now radio-free.

There were legislative changes across the country a while back regarding local radio and broadcasting regulations, which have allowed large radio stations and companies to reduce their local programming in favour of a more centralised approach.
Most big companies have now eradicated local content completely.
Streamlining of operations is cost-cutting and the annihilation of many jobs and local radio as we know it has disappeared.
Thank goodness for the new digital local stations that are popping up.
Their biggest problem is getting the public to find them - and change their listening habits.
