COUNCIL WANTS YOUR OPINIONS ON PROPOSALS FOR FABRIC DISTRICT AND BETTER CITY TRAVEL LINKS

- By LIAM THORP ECHO Political Editor

Revamp plans could be FAB

NEW plans could revamp a large area of Liverpool city centre as well as other areas.

The plans are aimed at improving the area of the city centre known as The Fabric District - the historic heart of the city’s textiles trade that runs along and around London Road - with proposals for a new and improved public plaza, an outdoor events space and new footpaths and road crossings.

As well as The Fabric District itself, the plan aims to provide better links between the city centre, the University of Liverpool campus and the Kensington area.

Running along London Road and Prescot Street towards Low Hill, the planned scheme features improved footpaths and road crossings as well as new segregated cycle lanes. Also proposed are measures designed to reduce journey times for buses, such as lanes and upgraded junctions.
