Police gathering evidence of fatal attack on dog
MERSEYSIDE Police are gathering evidence to put a case before the courts after a dog was killed by another dog.
At around 1.10pm on Friday, May 23, officers were called to Monterey Road, Old Swan, to reports a labradoodle had been attacked by a bull terrier type dog.
Officers have since launched an investigation into the attack, which left residents "scared and terrified".
Ron and Barb Jones were the owners of the labradoodle, who was called Amika.
Ron told the ECHO the couple are "devastated" after the incident. Amika, who had been part of the family for almost 16 years, was savaged to death by the dog, which police said is not a banned breed.
Ron, 75, said: "The dog latched onto Amika, dragging her into the middle of the road, tearing her neck into pieces and puncturing her muscles.
