Officer sent homophobic messages

HEARING FINDS PC RESIGNED BEFORE HE COULD BE SACKED
A POLICE constable would have been sacked had he not already resigned due to horrific messages he sent and received on WhatsApp.
Phillip McElroy was found to have breached policing standards after sending and receiving homophobic, transphobic and racist messages during a period of more than two years.
McElroy was hauled before an accelerated misconduct hearing at Mersey-side Police HQ where he was found to have breached the standards of professional behaviour for the force.
In a written report published on October 6, following the hearing held on July 17, 2024, it said how the then-constable engaged in these conversations between November 10, 2021, and January 6, 2024.
The report said: "These messages have been sent to and received from multiple participants.
