SOME MOMENTS THAT MAY HAVE BEEN MISSED

- By PAUL GORST LFC Correspondent

LIVERPOOL returned to action with the worst possible result as Manchester United secured a first win at Anfield since 2016.

Bryan Mbuemo scored after just 62 seconds before Cody Gakpo fired in a second-half leveller. Harry Maguire headed in late on for the visitors’ winner.

It means Arne Slot’s Premier League champions have now lost four games in a row which is their worst run for 11 years, back when Brendan Rodgers was in charge. But you knew all of that, right?

What you might have missed, however, were a series of intriguing subplots on the day at Anfield.

Here, as ever, are the best of our moments missed.

Knights of the realm bond over chocolate

They are the two statesmanlike figures of their respective clubs, but it was unlikely Sir Kenny Dalglish and Sir Alex Ferguson have ever bonded in the same way they did at half time on Sunday afternoon.

Having enjoyed some titanic battles down the years, Ferguson and Dalglish were likely talking through old times at the interval.
