SLOT REFLECTS ON TRAGIC YEAR AS ANFIELD WELCOMES WOLVES FOR JOTA TRIBUTE

- By PAUL GORST

ARNE SLOT says he hopes the depth of feeling from everyone connected to Liverpool Football Club towards Diogo Jota is a source of comfort to his family ahead of what is expected to be an emotional Anfield afternoon today.

The Reds will meet Wolverhampton Wanderers, Jota’s other former Premier League club, for what is the first fixture between the two since the popular Portuguese was involved in a fatal car accident with his brother, Andre Silva, in early July.

Jota was travelling in northern Spain en route back to Merseyside to begin preseason training in the early hours of Thursday, July 3 when a tyre blew out on his car.

The striker's wife, Rute, will be in attendance on the day with Jota’s sons, Dinis and Duarte, set to be mascots.
