POLICE RESPOND TO ONLINE CRITICS WITH EXTRA PARK SECURITY MEASURES FOLLOWING SEX ATTACKS
MERSEYSIDE Police has responded to claims on social media regarding cameras that have been installed in a Liverpool city centre park. An image of the devices in place in and around St John's Gardens behind St George's Hall has been shared on social media, with a number of claims made about their purpose.
The claims being shared on social media site X include that people's “conversations are being listened to” as part of Liverpool Council’s City Watch scheme. A post claims that these devices are the “first live audio, AI CCTV in a public park,” with the post titled “Big Brother is watching.”
