MOYES WON'T ACCEPT ANOTHER FEEBLE SHOWING - RATCLIFFE

- By CHRIS BEESLEY

DAVID Moyes won't accept any repeats of Everton's performance in their Carabao Cup exit at Wolverhampton Wanderers - as despite the Blues boss making seven changes, the team he picked should still have been good enough to beat the Premier League's bottom club.

That's the verdict of Everton's most successful captain, Kevin Ratcliffe.

The former Wales skipper told the ECHO: "The team that Everton put out should still have beaten Wolves. You can't govern that the players aren't going to be putting in a performance.

"I thought we were back to where we were on Tuesday night in terms of 'we nearly got there'.

"People were closing down, although it was half closing down - it wasn't a high press - the first person I saw putting any real effort into closing down with real intent was Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall when he came on for the second half.

"The manager has given these players a chance to say: 'Go on, prove to me that I'm wrong in picking players ahead of you, and they haven't produced. So, they can't argue about that.

"It seems as though some people are going around sulking. Do they really want to be there now?

"That's also players who were previously first pick. You realise that the standards are a lot higher now, we've picked up Jack Grealish and Iliman Ndiaye and they's shown that they're streets ahead of the others who are vying for those positions.

"The second half performance against Liverpool was really good, but we seemed to have left it at Anfield in the first half in the cup - again. It's disappointing because it felt like we were just going back to a year ago.
