COUNCILLORS GIVEN UPDATES ON BEAUTY SPOT AND PARKING

Beach row 'could soon be settled'

Fort Perch Rock

PEOPLE across Wirral have been given key updates on the future of Hoylake Beach and what might happen to both Wallasey and Birkenhead Town Halls, as well as the reasons behind a review into controversial parking charges.

The updates came during a policy and resources committee meeting on Wednesday night. Councillors suggested the row over the future of Hoylake beach could soon be settled, in an update on plans to rake part of it.

Cllr Liz Grey, who chairs the environment committee, said the process to get permission to clear part of the beach of vegetation is nearly finished.

Cllr Grey, who has faced heavy public criticism over the issue, said there were updates coming forward. In February, the local authority issued a notice to seek approval from the Marine Management Organisation to begin work on the beach.
