WILD'S PLAN FOR SURVIVAL

- By OWEN LINNETT Tranmere Reporter

BASIC training

Tranmere coach Pete Wild

(JOE TOTH/SHUTTERSTOCK)

PETE Wild has warned his players that their ‘effort and desire’ must improve immediately as Tranmere Rovers prepare to host playoff hopefuls Swindon Town this weekend.

Rovers head into the clash off the back of a frustrating 3-0 defeat to Harrogate Town on Tuesday night, a result that cut the Wirral side's gap to the relegation places from seven points to six.

The 41-year-old said: “What happened on Tuesday night is an effort and desire thing more than it is tactical and that has been fully addressed this morning.

"It doesn’t matter how many days I've had on the training pitch, those basics have to be far better. What I am able to change is to stop us conceding and offering teams soft goals.

"I didn’t need to take this job, but I wanted to because I thought I could help, and I will help. We will get these lads moving in the right direction’.
