ALAN Hansen has spoken about his battle to regain his health after being hospitalised last summer.

The legendary Liverpool and Scotland defender, 70, fell seriously ill with an undisclosed condition last year.

He was hospitalised but was discharged in June 2024.

He returned to enjoying regular activities, such as golf, shortly after and this summer he presented Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk with the Premier League title at Anfield.

Hansen was the last Reds captain to lift a league title in front of fans at Anfield in the 1989/90 season.

The Scot spoke to the ECHO at Odeon Liverpool ONE for the city's screening of a new Amazon Prime documentary about Sir Kenny Dalglish, his former teammate and manager, on Saturday.
