Widespread opposition, but plan set to go ahead

TRAFFIC AND HABITAT FEARS IF 115 HOMES BID GETS THE NOD
CONTROVERSIAL plans for more than 100 homes near Bradgate Park are set to be given the go ahead tonight.
More than 320 objections have been lodged with Charnwood Borough Council about Davidsons Developments' plans for 115 properties on land between Markfield Lane and the A50 Leicester Road, at Field Head.
The council's plans committee will meet to discuss the application this evening, with planning officers recommending it be approved.
Fears have been raised over how additional cars will affect roads, as well as the loss of what one resident described as a haven for wildlife.
Three parish councils, including Markfield, Groby and Newtown Linford have objected to the proposed development.
