Transgender activist wins national award

A TRANSGENDER rights campaigner has won a national award for her work.
Katie Neeves, from Stoney Stanton, was named winner of the Positive Role Model for LGBT Award in this year’s National Diversity Awards in association with HSBC UK.
Founder of Cool2BTrans, Katie was shortlisted for the second consecutive year, for her work as a trans ambassador.
She said: “Given that my lower gender confirmation surgery was only 11 weeks ago, it was touch and go whether I would be able to make it to the award ceremony in person.
“But on the advice of a nurse at the hospital and with the help of a doughnut cushion, my partner Jasmin and I made it up there and I’m so glad we did.
