Second reshuffle for top team at council

THE County Hall cabinet has undergone another reshuffle.

Helen Butler has left her role as cabinet member for finance and resources because of "family commitments", Leicestershire County Council has announced.

She was praised and thanked by her leader, Councillor Dan Harrison, but opposition parties have claimed residents are paying the price for Reform UK's “inexperience” at running a council.

Her duties will be taken over by Harrison Fowler, who previously led on strategic planning and economic development.

Coun Fowler's previous responsibilities will be shared between Coun Harrison and his deputy, Councillor Kevin Crook.

Coun Crook was only appointed to his role when the previous deputy and adult social care lead, Councillor Joseph Boam, was relieved of the roles in August.

Coun Harrison said: "Helen's been a great cabinet member and I'd like to thank her for her hard work. Balancing a home life with being a cabinet member is hard.

"It's to Helen's credit she's decided that she can't give the role the time it requires.

"(Coun Fowler) is a talented member of the cabinet, and I know he will quickly get to grips with his new role."
