Robbery rate in city is highest in region

MORE people are mugged or carjacked in parts of Leicester city centre than anywhere else in the East Midlands.

New data has also revealed the number of people threatened and forced to hand over their mobile phones by robbers.
The data, revealed by the Reach Data Unit, shows that, last year, Leicestershire Police recorded 863 crimes of robbery. Those records are for any crime where an offender uses force or the threat of force to steal, such as mugging, robbery by intimidation, carjacking or an armed robbery or bank robbery.
