Robbers armed with a machete attacked student in his home

A MEMBER of a gang who attacked a student and ransacked his house has been jailed for over 10 years.

Four masked burglars armed with a machete burst into a home in Harrow Road, Westcotes, Leicester, at about 3.30am in March 2023.

Leicester Crown Court heard two of the student's housemates, who were not at home, were well-paid footballers and the gang was targeting their cash.

The intruders went from room to room searching for items, stealing valuables including PlayStation consoles and designer clothes.

The victim was beaten up in his bedroom, kicked and stamped on.

The court heard the gang also boiled a kettle of water while interrogating the victim about the whereabouts of cash.

Then they took the student down to the kitchen and covered him in flour, eggs, milk and alcohol.
