Prison block for inmates who keep the racket down

BETTER-BEHAVED inmates are being housed in part of Leicestershire’s newest prison in a bid to address noise complaints from neighbours.

Noise has been an issue at HMP Fosse Way since it opened in June 2023, with residents subjected to loud music and foul language emanating from the prison’s cells.

Complaints have also been received about blaring smoke alarms and noisy extractor fans.

Changes have been approved with the aim of tackling the problem.

Acting on behalf of the Ministry of Justice, Lendlease has submitted a noise assessment to Blaby District Council as part of a planning permission for the jail’s newest block, Houseblock H.
