Brave Lions take title fight to final heat but Witches are champions

LEICESTER Lions' dreams of becoming Premiership speedway champions for the first time are over for another season, writes Alan Jones.

Ipswich Witches ended their 27-year wait for the league title after winning the Grand Final second leg 46-43 at Foxhall Heath Stadium to claim an aggregate victory of 93-86.
Lions began the return leg trailing by four points from the first leg at home on Monday but it took the last race of the night for Ipswich to finally clinch the title.
The Witches had built on their first leg lead by going 10 points up after three races and were seemingly on their way to a comfortable win.
But two reverses in heats five and six brought the Lions back into the picture.
