A warning shot for democracy
Leicester Mercury

WHAT'S happening in Los Angeles right now isn’t immigration enforcement; it’s a live rehearsal for authoritarian rule.
Donald Trump, bloated by his own ego and flanked by a band of political thugs, ordered 2,000 National Guard troops into one of America’s most diverse cities.
The supposed justification? Protests against sweeping immigration raids that have torn families apart and deported people without due process.
The truth? Trump doesn’t care about enforcing the law. He cares about enforcing obedience.
California Governor Gavin Newsom revealed that during a phone call about the situation, Trump never mentioned the military. Not a word about sending troops into US neighbourhoods.
Newsom called him a “stone-cold liar”, and he's right.
Trump isn’t just lying; he’s hijacking American institutions to serve his personal lust for control.
