Over the weekend 131 ‘emergency’ incidents saw council crews called out throughout the county

- By Dave Knapper

COUNCIL crews were sent to 131 ‘emergency’ incidents as Storm Claudia smashed its way through the county.

And Staffordshire County Council has revealed how it received 220 reports between Friday and earlier today over issues caused by Storm Claudia.

It came after strong winds - reaching around 52mph - and prolonged rain on Friday brought down trees, left roads under water and triggered power cuts affecting thousands of households.

It has been reported how trees continued to fall on Saturday with motorists reporting various blocked roads.
