Game to forget as Leek lose out again against relegated bogey team

IT was certainly not a good Friday for Leek Town as they failed to secure the point they needed to be mathematically safe from relegation from the Pitching In Northern Premier League falling to a disappointing 1-0 defeat to already relegated Mickleover, writes Winners Lad.

Game to forget as Leek lose out again against relegated bogey team

An early goal from Leek's nemesis Andy Dales, who always seems to score against the Blues, was enough to separate the two sides in what was truly an awful game to watch from a footballing perspective.

Leek had already been beaten twice by Mickleover this season, once in the league and once in the FA Trophy and the Derbyshire side continued to be a bogey side for the Blues with this solitary goal win.

Blues manager Josh Brehaut made two changes to the side that had won both of its previous games with Olly Shenton starting at the expense of Adam Porter and Markell Foulds being given a run out at centre back with Nathan Okome taking a seat on the bench.

Leek carved out the first real chance when Olly Heywood came forward and found Hayden Campbell with the pass, who subsequently found Alex Hurst with the Blues winger only being denied by a great block from goalkeeper Yusuf Mersin.
