Mobile unit clears 6,500 backlog for endoscopy teams

- By Gary Porter

AN NHS mobile unit has successfully cleared a backlog of 6,500 patients awaiting endoscopy procedures.

The mobile endoscopy unit, funded by NHS England, operated for six months after launching in August last year.

It was introduced as a seven-day service to address overdue waiting lists for planned and surveillance procedures.

Kathryn Kelter, head of operations for planned care at University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust's (UHNM), said: "This achievement marks a major milestone for UHNM, ensuring that all patients now have timely access to essential endoscopy services.
