County's richest and poorest areas just minutes apart
Leatherhead and Dorking Advertiser
|January 01, 2026
SURREY is often considered to be one of the UK's wealthiest counties.
With towns full of multi-million pound homes and many high paying jobs on offer both in the county and a short journey to London.
Despite this, recently released data by the Office of National Statistics (ONS) suggests that while this is true; there are many areas of Surrey which don't follow that stereotype.
The ONS data measures the mean household disposable (net) income after housing costs on an equivalised basis for local areas across England and Wales (Middle layer Super Output Areas aka MSOAs) in the financial year ending in March 2023.
