Plans for farmland site the size of nearly 100 football pitches win the green light

A new solar farm, covering an area the size of almost 100 football pitches, is set to be built on agricultural land near Preston after it was given the go-ahead by council chiefs.

The Clifton Marsh Solar Farm, to the west of Preston, will generate enough power for more than 14,000 homes annually, helping save more than 20,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide.
