Flintoff's reboot of Bullseye hits the target in so many ways

Kate Wobschall steps up to the oche for Bullseye
-
You know what they say - you can't beat a bit of Bully. And despite this 2025 reboot switching Jim Bowen for Freddie Flintoff, that sentiment is as accurate today as it was in 1981.
Jim's shoes aren't just big ones to fill, they are gigantic. How do you replicate his iconic mix of clubland humour, gentle mickey-taking and unpolished charisma for today's painfully sensitive audience?
Enter fellow Lancastrian Mr Andrew Flintoff, former England cricket hero, victim of THAT Top Gear accident and all-round genial northern bloke.
Yes, there are probably hosts who are slicker and more sophisticated; however, it's difficult to imagine Tom Allen or Roman Kemp in the mocked-up WMC that is the Bullseye studio, offering unsuccessful contestants their BFH (which, for the uninitiated, is their bus fare home).
In some ways, the show has been brought bang up to date. Gone are the bubble perms and American tan tights of the early Eighties contestants, replaced by a more diverse offering.
