Awful moment the Arena bomb went off

Still sitting in the car, Andrew and Xander heard an almighty bang ring out across Manchester city centre, echoing through the busy streets around the arena building.

They felt the vibration of the boom running through their bodies and turned their heads in fear towards the arena, wondering what could have caused such a noise.

Then the screaming started, from around the corner, and out of sight. Young people and their families started running down the street in the opposite direction to the arena, running into one another on the pavement in their hurry to get away from the unknown threat.
