Rs 4 Cr Spent Over 20yrs To Build 1-Km ‘Road’ Stretch!

History of sorts was created in this far-flung border district when the state government last year handed over a major road construction project to the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) after having squandered an astto-nomical Rs four crore on ‘creating’ just a kilometre of an improvised fair-weather pathover a period of 20 years. In sharp contrast, the BRO’s Project Sam-park had completed 20 km stretch of the road, by September 10 this year
According to reports, the park’s very own public works department (PWD) had taken up the construction of 35-km Ghambir Tarkundi road in Rajouri district in 1980 While its physical execution went on at a snail’s pace, the department displayed a mad haste in the booking of expenditure It spent a near Rs four crore till the time the project was finally entrusted to the BRO last year
