Farrell stands down after Red Hands win

- BY PADDY TIERNEY

DESSIE TAKES TY ROAD

DUBLIN are on the lookout for a new manager following Dessie Farrell's decision to step down after six seasons in charge.

Having lost their Leinster title in a semi-final defeat to Meath, the Dubs recovered to make the last eight of the All-Ireland series.

But a return to Croke Park failed to bring about the improvements necessary to progress past a determined Tyrone side last night.

Farrell, who won an All-Ireland as a player at Tyrone's expense in 1995, managed his home county to Championship wins in 2020 and 2023.

After the seven-point quarter-final loss at Croke Park, Farrell revealed he had told the Dublin county board that the 2025 campaign would be his last, regardless of how the year unfolded.
