OFFALY captain Ciaran Burke believes Sunday's reversal against Waterford provided a valuable pre-Championship lesson.
Having secured promotion to Division 1A with a match to spare before losing their last regulation game to Waterford - who went up with them as a result - the teams faced off once again in the Division 1B final.
Peter Queally's side were streets ahead for three-quarters of the game as their half-time lead of 11 points swelled to 15 midway through the second half before Offaly hit them with 1-8 without reply, eventually losing by four.
