Idah takes aim at snipers by firing in Celtic leveller

TRIGGER HAPPY

BY ANDY NEWPORT CELTIC emerged from the Ibrox Stadium tunnel to find themselves sitting in Graeme Souness’ crosshairs.

By the end they had Adam Idah to thank for dodging another Old Firm bullet.

Brendan Rodgers’ newly-crowned champions have been out of Rangers’ range all season when it came to points on the board.

But in these recent derby shootouts, the Ibrox strugglers have been quicker on the draw.

They'd scored three times in each of their three previous derby duels and the Gers ultras were hoping for a repeat as they unveiled a banner depicting a shotgun-toting Souness.

And it looked like Gers were preparing to blast their way to a third straight league win over their bitter rivals when erratic marksman Cyriel Dessers fired home on the stroke of half-time.

It was a 25th goal of the season for a man who is either hit or miss in front of goal. He could have won it late on but an ugly fresh-air swipe let Celtic off the hook.

Idah has a habit of hitting bullseyes or blanks too. Yet it was his second-half equaliser and 19th of the campaign that stopped the derby rot for Rodgers' Treble chasers.

Barry Ferguson had Leon Balogun back wearing a mask to protect the broken cheekbone he picked up in Bilbao as Vaclav Cerny, Connor Barron and Nedim Bajrami also started.
